We Arrived in Sevilla

Posted by Bill. We arrived in Sevilla by train from Madrid about 1:30 this afternoon, called our landlord to arrange a meeting, took a cab to our apartment and were moved in and doing a video call on Skype with Karen’s parents before 3:00.

Karen agreed to unpack my suitcases and put away my clothes if I would go out and bring back food and drink. I know a good deal when I hear one so I went for a stroll, found sandwiches, water, wine and beer and was back in about 35 minutes.

Karen’s advisor and Paleography professor at UNF, Dr. Michael Francis, invited us to join him on a trip to the grocery store and we accepted. We got basic items, eggs, milk, butter, olive oil, pasta and some veggies. Tomorrow we will go to the open air market to stock up on fruits and veggies. We went back to our apartment, put away the groceries and then went to Dr. Francis’ apartment for a glass of sherry and hors d’oeuvres.

We were joined by the rest of the UNF crew, Spencer, Justin, Kryzol, Saber and Ashley and went out for tapas y bebidas a little after nine. After awhile we went to another place for more tapas then to a place for gelatos.

We got back to our apartment about 12:45 AM in time to have a Skype video call with most of the Jacksonville family who had gathered to celebrate Karen’s dad’s 75th birthday. Sorry we missed it Roger!

It is now 1:35 AM and we are going to sleep now. More about Sevilla with photos tomorrow.
